Let's write out what I did in 2009:

Lauren appears into my life with a vengeance.
Many trips to Austin/San Antonio/Denton.
Mizuumi-Con - 1-day con, many days of hard work.
Convention tour circuit all around Texas.
Lauren spends the summer at my place.
Nerdapalooza, 3 days of pure win.
San Japan 2.x - Went smoooooth.
Started work on San Japan :3, becoming massive.
Nerd Invasion/NerdPOW roadtrips.
Left Austin after 20 years.
Hello Denton, starting a new chapter.
See folks for X-mas with Lauren.

The '00 decade was the decade that I finally grew up, especially in the later half of the decade. Okay, I didn't really grow up too much but enough to be beyond 12 years old. This decade, I foresee a lot of life experiences, good and bad. I got kicked in the butt with a fair-amount of those life experiences of all kind in '00 and many of them is what I needed to be where I am now. Lessons learned. Doors opened. Followed them through. Now, I'm cashing in a few of my instant karma chips to hope for a lot of good.

I have to say, while Robin Hobb's Liveship trilogy is a fun story, it probably could've been done in something like half the pages it was.

On another note, I apparently now have a play-asia.com lanyard and hand towel.

Unrelated to either of the above, but I think I shall wear my newly acquired Star Trek tshirt to work tomorrow. (it's a pretty nice shirt, too; possibly the best $9.99 and cut out panel of a box of crackers I've ever spent. ^_^)

For those of you who don't know, I've had my computer for the past, oh.... over six years now, I believe? And other than one or two problems while it was still under warranty, it's worked fine, really only getting especially slowed down over the last several months. Considering that this was a $300 package deal emachines from Best Buy, this is most definitely not bad at all.

However, I do think that it's probably long past due for an upgrade. A notion that one of my friends agreed with so strongly, in fact, that she took it upon herself to look up components with which to build myself a new one. Of course, being as I'm not as intimately familiar with computer parts as some of you, I'll present to you the list of recommendations for any other suggestions/additions/other input people may have. Since, well, if I can make a $300 emachines last 6+ years, I'd rather like to see similar longevity out of my next computer.

Cut for computer babble )
