Nearly 10 days after Anime Detour in Bloomington, and I can still remember every single thing I've done at the convention. This year was incredibly amazing and I will go in as best detail as I can before I fall asleep here...
First off, I did a promotion for the latest version of Pump it Up, New Xenesis, by having a brand new arcade unit (a GX) inside one of the con's gaming rooms. I must have had at least hundreds (out of the 3000 attendees) of people get to try it out (for FREE), and many have either played it or saw it, and will thus remember it. I dare say that advertising the game and how fun it is was a SMASHING success. Considering at least 3000 people had to have at least seen it, I am confident that I've helped breed new players for this great game.
I also had a great time holding three different panels (one for Gundam, another for the Korean Wave, and a trivia-off), considering I also had a great turnout for each one! I never expected these three to even HAVE a turnout at all! I will definitely refine and rehost these events if I am able to attend Detour next year.
Goods; and plenty of them, after a raid on the Dealer's room on Sunday. I know I spent at least $100 on all kinds of stuff from three different Pockys, a canteen of Meiji Fruit Droplets, a Maromi plushie (from Paranoia Agent), and two DVDs (Speed Grapher, Midori no Hibi). The droplets can be seen in the animated film
Grave of the Fireflies, Pocky is a MUST to buy at ANY anime convention, and Maromi of Paranoia Agent was undeniably adorable, so I could not resist. ^ ^
All in all, I'd say this year was incredible, and has topped last year, as it did with the year before that and so on. ^ ^ I can only hope I can enjoy a few more cons before I make a decision of where I'll end up after college. Whew~ that was easier than I thought, time for sleep...
Peace out~!
